Let's start at the very beginning

Not at the beginning of my reading life, but at what was referred to on my children's school reports as the consolidation phase.
My memory is that I was given this dictionary in about Grade 4 and I think it was at Savage River School. I have written my name on the flyleaf with fountain pen and GCS (Gardenvale Central School) so perhaps memory is wrong.
I do remember though the great pleasure that this dictionary gave me. It confirmed what I had long suspected : that words can be exact and slippery at the same time. It was the first glimmer too that words can do whatever you want them to.
This blog will range freely over my own reading history, years of devouring picture books, current and past writing.
